Return to Rural ~hmmm...is it that easy? We think it is possible and could be easier than all of us think! The Return to Rural Project is a rural "mature" youth retention and attraction initiative led by SAMDA Economic Partnership in Southeastern Alberta, Canada. We believe that by blending the use of technology and community, we can create an environment where early to mid-career familites and individuals can choose our community to live, work and do business.
How will we do this? Other communities have tried....can it work?
- Engaging the community ~ creating mature youth focus groups ~ we'll find out straight from the people it matters to the most - what needs done, how can we change - is it possible for a rural community to be new, open and connected?
- Develop a streamlined Technology network with Video Conference, highspeed internet and use of innovative technologies -SmartBoards, Skype etc.
- Allow for premium accessibility & provide Business & Technology Support ~ support is a neccessary component of any successful endeavour
- Connect mature youth with our local municipalities ~ municipal planning that works for this demographic is essential to success
