  a community with heart!
New Brigden is a small hamlet located 35km north of Oyen and 40km south of Consort along highway 41.

New Brigden boasts a thriving community that endeavours to support the economical, educational, social and recreational needs of its citizens.  New Brigden is host to a number of services: a school that offers K-9 programming, a post office, a community hall (bustling with activity), a curling rink (with library, kitchen and bar facilities) and an outdoor skating rink (with heated portable and night time lighting).

Our community's prosperity is due, in large part, to volunteerism. Time and resources are given by our local families to ensure that our facilites and grounds are well maintained, that our youth is provided with rewarding opportunities such as drama, skating and curling, and that future planning is always in the works to support and promote the community of New Bridgen.

Who:    Sarah Hagens

What:   Homespun Webs (Web Design and Optimization Services)

When:  Sarah enrolled in the IBDE Web Design and Optimization program in the fall of 2009 and graduated with a certificate in Web Design and Optimiation in April 2010.

Why & How:  Sarah made the decision to take some time away from her teaching career to be at home with her young family.  Sarah's interest in Web Design and a desire to explore home business opportunities, reasearched online studies.  IBDE, a program that strives to reach learners with disabilities or those living in communities unable to access local colleges or universities conveniently, turned out to be a match made in heaven.  Sarah was able to access the courses and instructors online from home and successfully achieved her Web Design and Optimization certification.

Where:  Sarah lives on a farm in the New Brigden area with her husband and two children.  Sarah now has a registered home business called "Homespun Webs".  Sarah offers Web Design and Optimization services.  She has developed a professional website:  www.homespunwebs.ca, that outlines her services, portfolio and contact information.  Sarah is open for business!
