We had yet another successful day at the Farmers' Market July 10. Last week's winners were: The Pillow Nook, Maxine Girletz; Adult Basic, Edna Gilbert/Vivian Levick; Prairie View Colony, Debbie Allen; Adult Basic Literacy, Tonya Logan; Acadia Colony, Dorothy Smigelski; Making Sawdust, Rose Niwa; Tupper Ware, Gwen Rice; Scented Soy Candles and Body Care, Shirley Carlson; Family Affair, Gary Woods; Cereal UCW, Mae Mock; Rica Vert's Jewelry, Marge Norris. This week we had a variety of homemade products. There were woodworking pictures, jewelry, vegetables, meat, knives, purses, wooden signs, homemade material products, fruit, baking, plants, beauty products, and candles. Lunch was provided by Big Country Victim Services and the bake table by Oyen United Church.
Weekly Joke A man is driving down a country road, when he spots a farmer standing in the middle of a huge field of grass. He pulls the car over to the side of the road and notices that the farmer is just standing there, doing nothing, looking at nothing. The man gets out of the car, walks all the way out to the farmer and asks him, "Ah excuse me mister, but what are you doing?" The farmer replies, "I'm trying to win a Nobel Prize." "How?" asks the man, puzzled. "Well, I heard they give the Nobel Prize...to people who are out standing in their field."
Next week the lunch will be provided by the Oyen Golf and Country Club, however we do not have a bake table booked. We need bake tables for the following weeks: July 17, 24, 31, August 7, and September 11. We are promoting the 100 Mile Diet, which encourages people to buy food within a 100 mile radius. The Farmers' Market is a great opportunity for this. We would like to see more bright smiling faces at the next market.
